About Ontario International (ONT) Airport

Ontario International (ONT) Airport is situated 3.7 km (2.3 mi) away from the business district of Ontario, in the state of California, United States. The airport is a hub for UPS Airlines, but other important companies operate flights here, such as United Airlines, Delta Airlines or US Airways. In 2006, the name “L.A.” was added to the designation of the airport, in order to make clear the fact that it also serves L.A. and to distinguish it from the province of Ontario, Canada.

The airport has been operating since 1923 and nowadays it covers 1,700 acres (690 ha), having two long runways that allow to be used as an alternate landing site for big aircraft when Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is not accessible due to weather conditions. Together with the two runways, the airport has three terminals: an international one, Terminal 2 and Terminal 4. In the future, Terminals 3 and 5 will be added.
As for the popularity of the airport, it was chosen to be featured in several movies and commercials, such as the 2001 movie Blow, starring Johnny Depp or the 2002 movie Catch me if you can.
